Trezor Bridge — Installation Deep Dive
Step-by-step install checklist and pre/post-install actions for Windows, macOS, and Linux (educational only).
Before you install — quick prechecks
- Close browser tabs that interact with hardware wallets to avoid conflicts.
- Back up your recovery seed and verify it before doing firmware updates.
- Only download installers from the vendor's official channel — do not follow random ads.
- On Linux, be ready to adjust USB permissions / udev rules for device access.
Windows — installation (summary)
- Obtain the installer package and verify authenticity if checksums/signatures are provided.
- Close wallet/browser tabs, then run the installer as administrator if prompted.
- Accept any driver prompts required by Windows and complete the install.
- Restart your browser and connect the Trezor device; the web UI should detect it via Bridge.
Tip: If drivers fail, try a different USB cable/port and re-run installer as admin.
macOS — installation (summary)
- Open the downloaded .dmg/.pkg and run the installer following prompts.
- Grant any Security & Privacy approvals if macOS blocks the installation.
- Restart your browser and connect your device; approve actions on the device screen.
Linux — installation (general tips)
- Use distribution-specific packages or follow official instructions for your distro.
- Set udev rules so your user can access the Trezor device (requires sudo to install rules).
- Log out / in or reboot after changing udev rules for them to take effect.
Post-install checks
- Confirm Bridge is running (system tray / process list) before opening wallet pages.
- Reload your web wallet or restart the app and test detection with your device connected/unlocked.
- If detection fails: try another USB cable/port, temporarily disable conflicting extensions, and ensure Bridge is up-to-date.
